AR Max-Ernst-Roundtrip City of Brühl:
Innovative product development for AR tourism app
New dimensions for art and culture with augmented reality

The Challenge

How can a city creatively stage art and culture and increase its attractiveness for tourism and its locals?

The Analysis

Augmented reality for inner-city areas makes culture tangible for everyone and is thus particularly attractive for use in tourism. The digital world integrates organically into people's everyday lives and surroundings and conveys experiences and, above all, knowledge in a playful way.

The Solutions

Augmented Reality (AR) presents Max Ernst's paintings and sculptures as part of a digital tour in a freely accessible public space. To make this possible, we have developed an innovative prototype for product maturity for Android and iOS devices to implement this AR application in a tourism app for Brühl digital e.V.. The city of Brühl provides the content for this.

With our AR framework for geo-based augmented reality installations, we guide the users from one AR station to the next in a service-oriented way. The augmented reality objects themselves are interactive and clickable. This makes it possible to view 3D objects, texts, or films as an augmented reality experience on-site. With our self-developed CMS system, content can be intuitively adapted and exchanged.
